The Happy Bar is a nutrient dense 100g snacker bar developed specifically for malnourished and diseased preschoolers between the age of 2 and 5 years.
The bar contains most of the proteins, vitamins, minerals and healthy oils a growing child needs in a day (see ingredient list). One bar per day will greatly benefit a malnourished child with HIV/Aids and other opportunistic diseases such as TB. Every hour 10 children under the age of 5 years dies in South Africa. The majority of these deaths are due to Malnutrition and Aids related causes. The key problem is poverty and unemployment, which leads to malnutrition, neglect and often abuse. The Happy Child Foundation worked with the highly respected Dr Frank Müller to develop a cost effective source of nutrients. The Happy Bar fulfils this roll perfectly as it is easy to chew and digest, tastes very good and requires no heating, cooling or mixing with milk or water before eating. It goes straight from the wrapper to the child. As malnutrition remains the world's most serious health problem and the single biggest contributor to child mortality, it is important that cost effective ways are found of addressing this problem. The UN considers proper nutrition to be a basic human right. For many children having only one meal per day or less is their daily experience. THE FUNCTIONS OF THE HAPPY BAR:
Spirulina, palm oil, whey powder, coconut, citrus peel, oats, peanut butter, raisins and sultanas, gum powder, molasses, sunflower oil, wheat flour, maize flour, syrup, orange powder, vanilla, cinnamon, vegetable fat, xanthan gum, white sugar, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda. Supplies most of the daily protein, vitamin and mineral needs for a growing child.
